Southern Prohibition Brewing

Southern Prohibition Brewing, known as SoPro, is an employee-owned brewery in Hattiesburg. Brewer Quinby Chunn started it in 2013 as a production-only brewery. In 2016 SoPro worked with other Mississippi breweries to pass legislation allowing limited on-site sales in its taproom, and in 2021 it helped change the rules again so it could serve wine, liquor and food. Today it runs a restaurant and full bar alongside the brewery, and its beer is distributed in several states. Head brewer Ben Green has guided the brewing since the doors opened, from developing recipes and naming beers to directing the can artwork. Core beers have included Suzy B, Crowd Control, Devil’s Harvest and Dogs Manipulating Time, with seasonal releases like Fire Ant and a small-batch series in 16-ounce four-packs.
